These things are all genuinely available, and not at hotel rates.

This guide walks through each service with honest USD fee ranges, how far in advance to book, and what actually works versus what sounds good on a villa listing but rarely gets used. After 7 years of managing guests through these services, I've learned where the value is and where it isn't.

How Does Pre-Arrival Grocery Stocking Work?

This is the one service guests thank us for most. Arriving at a villa after a long flight to find the fridge already stocked — cold San Miguel in the door, fresh mango on the counter, the exact coffee you asked for — changes the whole energy of the first evening.

The process is straightforward. Send us a grocery list at least 48 hours before arrival, and we handle everything. We source from the Duong Dong market for fresh produce and fish, and from Co.opmart (the main supermarket in Duong Dong town, about 9 km from the airport by road) for packaged goods, wine, and imported items. We charge actuals — no markup on the groceries themselves — plus a flat 150,000 VND (~$6) shopping fee to cover our time and fuel.

Most guest lists come to $40–$100 for a week's worth of breakfast staples, drinks, and snacks. Families with young children typically spend more ($80–$130) stocking up on specific brands. Wine and spirits push the total up — we can source decent imported wine from $8–$15 per bottle, though the selection at Co.opmart isn't extensive. If you have specific wine preferences, I'd honestly suggest bringing a bottle or two from your home airport duty-free rather than hoping we find your preferred label locally.

What to Put on Your List

The requests that work best: tropical fruit (mangosteen, rambutan, dragon fruit — seasonal and very fresh), Vietnamese coffee and a filter setup, local craft beer from Pasteur Street Brewing, fresh coconuts, eggs, butter, and whatever breakfast items your family eats. The requests that don't work well: specific specialty cheeses, organic certified products, or very particular Western brands. We always confirm availability before shopping and will flag substitutions in advance.

How to Book a Private Chef at Your Villa

A private chef session is probably the most memorable thing you can add to a villa stay. Sitting by the pool at 7 PM while someone cooks a proper multi-course meal in your villa kitchen — it's the kind of experience that makes the place feel like it's entirely yours.

We work with Chef Minh, who has been our go-to for about four years now. He trained in Saigon and has been cooking on Phu Quoc since 2018. His rate is $80 for a 4-course dinner for up to 6 guests, ingredients extra. Ingredients for a seafood-focused dinner — barramundi, tiger prawns, some crab if in season — typically run $30–$60 depending on what's available at the morning market. He arrives 90 minutes before the meal, has the kitchen spotless when he leaves, and handles his own shopping if you ask him to (which most guests prefer).

The full market range for private chefs on Phu Quoc is $60–$120 per session for 4–8 people. At the lower end you'll find decent home cooks who do a few dishes well; Chef Minh sits in the middle of that range and, in my experience, delivers the most consistent results for a mixed group. Menu Planning and Dietary Needs

Give Chef Minh at least 24 hours and a short brief: proteins you want, anything avoided, whether kids are eating too. He'll suggest a menu and confirm before coming. Vegetarian and vegan requests he handles well. Severe allergies — sesame, shellfish — flag these clearly and he'll adjust or decline if he can't guarantee it. He's straightforward about his limitations, which I respect.

One practical note: if you want a private chef for both lunch and dinner on the same day, that's two separate bookings ($160 total for Chef Minh, two sets of ingredients). Airport Transfer — What to Expect and What It Costs

Phu Quoc International Airport sits on the eastern side of the island, roughly central north-south. Most western-coast villa areas — Long Beach, Ong Lang, Duong Dong — are a 15–25-minute drive by road. An Thoi and Bai Sao in the south are slightly further, 25–35 minutes.

We arrange all transfers in advance. Send us your flight details (airline, flight number, arrival time), and we'll have a driver at arrivals with a name sign — your name or the villa name, your preference. Standard rates in 2025–2026:

• Standard sedan (4 seats): $18–$25 to Long Beach/Ong Lang/Duong Dong
• 7-seat van: $28–$35 to the same areas
• Minibus (12 seats): $45–$60

Grab operates on Phu Quoc and typically costs $8–$15 to most western-coast villa areas. It's a reasonable backup if a flight is delayed significantly. The drivers are generally fine. That said, Grab availability late at night (after 11 PM) can be patchy, so for late arrivals I'd stick with a pre-arranged transfer. Departure Transfers

Same rates for the return trip. The airport terminal is small — I'd recommend arriving 90 minutes before international flights, 60 minutes for domestic. Yacht and Boat Charter from Phu Quoc

The An Thoi archipelago — 15 small islands off Phu Quoc's southern tip — is the main reason to charter a private boat. The water clarity runs 15–20 m visibility during dry season (November–April), there are coral reefs in excellent condition, and several of the smaller islands have beaches you'll have entirely to yourselves on a private charter.

Charters depart from An Thoi harbour, which is about 30–40 minutes by road from most Long Beach or Ong Lang villas. We include that transfer in the charter package. Fee ranges for 2025–2026:

Snorkelling equipment is included on all private speedboat charters we arrange. The sailing yacht option is slower and more relaxed — good for couples or small groups who want a full day on the water without constant stops. Fuel, captain and crew, and snorkelling gear are included; meals and drinks are BYO unless you arrange catering through us (add ~$20/person for a simple lunch pack).

Book 48 hours ahead in high season; 72+ hours if you want a specific boat or if you're a group of 8–10 and need the larger vessel. Last-minute (same-day) availability exists but you'll have less choice. See villa amenities for which packages include a complimentary charter tour.

In-Villa Spa Treatments

Two therapist teams work with us regularly. Both are based in Duong Dong, about 15 minutes from our Long Beach and Ong Lang villas by motorbike. They bring their own portable massage tables, oils, and towels — you don't need to provide anything. The villa pool terrace works well for this in dry season; inside the air-conditioned villa rooms if it's raining or the guest prefers privacy.

Standard rates:

• Traditional Vietnamese massage, 60 min: $35–$45/person
• Traditional Vietnamese massage, 90 min: $50–$65/person
• Hot stone massage, 60 min: $45–$55/person
• Hot stone massage, 90 min: $55–$70/person
• Foot reflexology, 45 min: $25–$35/person
• Couples package (2×90 min massage): $110–$130 total

For groups of 4+ wanting simultaneous treatments, two therapists can run in parallel — tables set up in different rooms or in a shaded outdoor area. A 4-person morning spa session with two therapists working through 90-minute treatments takes about 3 hours total. Book the evening before for morning sessions; afternoon sessions can sometimes be arranged same-morning. Payment is in cash on the day — VND or USD both accepted.

A Note on What These Sessions Are

These are legitimate therapeutic massage services — traditional Vietnamese technique, not a luxury hotel spa package with candles and a branded robe. The quality is high but the setting is your villa, not a spa facility. Most guests prefer it that way. If you want the full hotel-spa atmosphere, the JW Marriott spa at the north of the island is worth the 20-minute drive.

Tour Arrangement Through Villa Concierge

We book tours at local market rates — no hotel-desk markup. These are the activities we arrange most often:

Island-hopping, An Thoi archipelago: $25–$45/person on shared boats, or see charter rates above for private. Full day, departs An Thoi harbour around 8 AM, returns 4 PM. Includes 3–4 island stops, snorkelling, and a lunch on the boat. This is the activity most guests rate highest.

Night squid fishing: $30–$50/person. Small wooden fishing boats, bright lamps, squid caught and often cooked on the boat. Runs 6 PM to around 10 PM. Not suitable if you get seasick easily — the boats are small and there's no shelter. A personal favourite for groups who want something genuinely local.

Phu Quoc pepper farm and fish sauce factory: $15–$25/person including transport and guide. Takes about 3 hours. The fish sauce factory tour is genuinely interesting — Phu Quoc fish sauce (nước mắm) is Vietnam's most famous, and the fermenting barrels smell exactly as you'd expect. The pepper farm usually includes a tasting.

National park jeep safari: $35–$55/person. Half-day through the northern national park — waterfalls, wildlife spotting, swimming. Best in wet season (May–October) when everything is green. Dry season the waterfalls are reduced.
